David Bolyard is a passionate sailor and sailmaker and the owner of Ullman Sails Gulf Coast. David grew up in Gulf Breeze, Florida and in 1977 after going sailing with his next door neighbor David got a job at the local sail loft and never looked backed. David opened his loft in Mandeville, Louisiana in 1981.
On the racecourse David is a nationally decorated sailor. He has won multiple U.S. Sailing Men’s Championship titles (Mallory Cup in ’94, ’99, ’00, ’01) as well as finishing second in a memorable Mallory Cup final in which David crewed for his son David, Jr (DJ). David has also won the Southern California Lipton Cup (’03), multiple class wins at Key West Race Week as well as competing in several national and regional championships and regattas around the United States. David has sailed in regattas on all the major bodies of water in the United States. A few of the regattas David has competed in: Whidbey Island Race Week, Newport to Ensenada, Chicago Mackinac Race, Block Island Race Week, Key West Race Week, BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, St. Thomas International Regatta, Pineapple Cup, St. Pete to Havavna, Regata del Sol al Sol Tampa to Isla Mujeres, Regata al Sol Pensacola to Isla Mujeres, Harvest Moon Regatta as well as regattas on inland lakes around the country.
